Tea

Good for the planet

We buy around 12% of the world’s black tea supply, mainly for Lipton. By 2015, all of our Lipton and PG Tips tea bags will come from Rainforest AllianceTM certified farms. More than 80% of the tea we sell in Western Europe already does, and we’ve just launched Rainforest AllianceTM tea in Japan and Australia.

In the US, we are continuing to extend our Rainforest Alliance™ Tea, and more of our tea will become certified in 2011. Additionally, our Lipton Tea manufacturing plant in Suffolk, Virginia, the largest tea processing facility in the United States, has achieved its goal of becoming a “zero-landfill” facility.

Good for the people

In Kenya alone, around 38,000 small independent farms have been certified so far. We’ve invested in schools, colleges and hospitals close to tea plantations.
