Prepare the Lemon-Herb Mayonnaise

Prepare the Cumin seeds

  • Cumin, seeds 1 T.

Prepare the Burger

  • Cumin seeds, toasted, prepared 1 T.
  • Black Beans, drained, partially mashed 6.5 cup
  • Breadcrumbs, plain 2 cup
  • Bell pepper, red, chopped 1 each
  • Onion(s), chopped 1 each
  • Garlic, chopped 3 T.
  • Salt 1 T.
  • Black pepper, ground 1 T.
  • Eggs 3 each
  • Olive oil 0.5 cup
  • Hamburger buns 10 each
  • Tomato 10 slices
  • Lemon-Herb Mayonnaise, prepared 1.5 cup

Serving Suggestion

  1. Prepare the Lemon-Herb Mayonnaise

    • Combine and chill.
  2. Prepare the Cumin seeds

    • Place cumin seeds in small sauté pan. Heat over medium heat, stirring frequently until toasted and fragrant, about 3-4 minutes.
    • Remove from heat; cool slightly. Place seeds in pestle or small bowl, crush roughly.

  3. Prepare the Burger

    • Combine black pepper, breadcrumbs, eggs, salt, garlic, black beans, bell pepper, onion, toasted cumin seeds (sub recipe below) and shape patties.
    • Coat sauté pan lightly with olive oil and heat over medium heat. Fry patties lightly browned on both sides and heated through.
    • Spread cut sides of bun evenly with Lemon-Herb Mayonnaise (sub recipe below) and build burgers.

  4. Serving Suggestion
